RON LONGSDORF - I can't help looking to the past - June 5th, 5 - 8 pm
Wilmington, DE – 28 May 2009 – The Delaware Division of the Arts showcases a solo exhibition by Ron Longsdorf titled, I can’t help looking to the past, on view in the Mezzanine Gallery from June 5 through July 17, 2009. Longsdorf’s exhibition features new sculptures and an installation created with his fellowship from the Delaware Division of the Arts. Longsdorf habitually revisits moments from his life with his work. Memories and situations from his past made manifest in physical forms with found furniture, domestic objects, and building materials, express his efforts in triggering an understanding of our daily lives and interactions. By modifying recognizably domestic objects, Longsdorf creates characters that explore the intricacies and difficulties of communication and personal relationships. A catalog titled, Ron Longsdorf – I can’t help looking to the past with an essay by independent curator Margaret Winslow will accompany the show, and is available through the artist. The opening reception will be held on June 5, 2009, 5 – 8 pm. The gallery is located at 820 N. French Street, 2nd floor, Carvel State Office Building, Wilmington, Delaware. The gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm.
